A 62-year-old man experienced lower left blindness lasting 30 min to 1 h for 5 years. Treatment with lomerizine decreased its frequency. Subsequently, he was diagnosed with neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease by histological and genetic analysis. We consider two possibilities as follows: the visual symptoms are due to NIID and the visual symptoms and NIID are completely independent conditions that have coexisted by chance. The preventive effect of lomerizine on visual symptoms lasted for about 20 months from the start of treatment until his accidental death.
